The train journey from Chengdu to Jiuzhai Valley has become the most popular and convenient option. With the opening of two additional stations, Huanglong Jiuzhai Station and Songpan Station, the journey to Jiuzhai is now even more convenient with more train options available. Most trains terminate at Huanglong Jiuzhai Station and Songpan Station, with a few ending at Zhenjiangguan. 

If you're planning a visit to Huanglong Park, taking the train to Huanglong Jiuzhai Station is the best option. For transit to Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, both Songpan and Huanglong Jiuzhai stations are very convenient. These stations are 2-3 hours away from Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area and 1-2 hours away from Huanglong Park. To ensure a comfortable journey, sufficient relaxation, and reduce the risk of altitude sickness, we recommend renting a car to travel to Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong. Below are some common car rental options.

Option 1: One-way transfer from Railway Stations to Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area

Note: This option is also valid for pickup at Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area to Railway Stations, including Huanglong Jiuzhai Station, Songpan Station, Zhenjiangguan Station. .

Option 2: One-day car rental from the railway station, including a visit to Huanglong Park, then drop-off at Jiuzhaigou, or vice versa.

Note: A visit to Huanglong Park takes 4-6 hours. If you take the round-trip cable car, 4 hours should be sufficient. If you take the cable car up and walk down the other path, plan for 6 hours or more, especially if you spend a lot of time taking pictures. Then, take the train arriving at Huanglong Jiuzhai Station (the best option) from Chengdu before 13:00. If you plan to visit Huanglong Park on your return day to Chengdu, ensure your train tickets are booked for late afternoon (later than 15:30).

Option 3: Hotel in Jiuzhaigou – Huanglong Park – Huanglong Airport

Note: Pick-up time will be arranged based on your flight departure time. If your flight departs in the evening, pick-up will be around 10:00 AM.

Option 4: Three Days Car Rental

Day 1: Transfer from Huanglong Jiuzhai/Songpan/Zhenjiangguan Railway Station to Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area (hotel).
Day 2: Round-trip transfer from hotel to park entrance.
Day 3: Drive 2.5 hours from Jiuzhaigou to Huanglong Park, then head to the railway station/airport.

Note: You can adjust the itinerary for Day 1 and Day 3 depending on the train tickets you secure. If you have ample time on both Day 1 and Day 3, you can add a visit to Songpan Ancient City or Mounigou nearby.

Option 5: Four Days Car Rental with Driver

Day 1: Transfer from Zhenjiangguan to Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area (hotel)

Day 2: Round trip transfer from hotel to Jiuzhaigou park entrance

Day 3: Round trip transfer from hotel to Jiuzhaigou park entrance

Day 4: Drive 2.5 hours from Jiuzhaigou to Huanglong Park, then head to the railway station/airport.

Note: You can adjust the itinerary for Day 1 and Day 4 depending on the train tickets you secure. If you have ample time on both Day 1 and Day 3, you can add a visit to Songpan Ancient City or Mounigou nearby.
