To further promote exchanges between Chinese and foreign nationals, China has decided to extend the visa exemption policy for 12 countries - France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Malaysia, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg - until December 31, 2025. Citizens of these countries holding ordinary passports can enter China without a visa for up to 15 days for business, tourism, family visits, or transit. Those who do not meet the visa exemption conditions are required to obtain a visa before entering China. Updated on May 15th, 2024.

Confirmed news about visa-free countries from officials.

On November 24th, 2023 spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mao Ning, announced that, in order to facilitate high-quality development and high-level opening-up for the convenience of international personnel exchanges, China has decided to experiment with expanding the range of unilateral visa exemptions. This policy applies to holders of ordinary passports from six countries: France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia. From December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2024, individuals from these countries holding ordinary passports can enter China for business, tourism, family visits, or transit for up to 15 days without the need for a visa.
