Today we have an excursion tour to Nanjing and see the best representatives of earth buildings. It takes us 2.5 hours from Xiamen to the first stop, Tianluokeng Tulou Cluster, a well-preserved Hakka Castles with four round buildings circling one square building. Go further, we will visit Yuchanglou, a five-story structure built in 1308, and Taxia Village where you can see more than 20 earth buildings lined along a clear brook. We continue 30 minute drive west to the neighboring town, Yongding and visit Chengqilou. It is considered as the King of round earth building and it is the largest in the area with 400 rooms. After the tour, transfer back to Xiamen.
A day dedicated to the highlights of Xiamen City including Gulangyu Island and Nanputuo Temple. After the sightseeing, drive 1.5 hours to the neighboring city of Quanzhou.
Gulangyu is a tiny island located 15 minute ride off the coast of Xiamen. Charming must be the first word that comes to mind when thinking of Gulangyu Island for all have been there. Because there is much more to Gulangyu than white-sandy beaches, leafy seaside promenade, fresh air and beautiful sunrise. The island also boasts large number of heritages including 19th-century European mansions, Piano Museum-the largest in the world and the only one in China, gardens and well-maintained cobbled alleyways, which are vestiges of its former glamor as important port for Sino-European trade.
Nanputuo Temple is an important Buddhist Temple to worship Avalokitesvara,and is also considered a pilgrimage site by dedicated followers from Southeast Asia. Listen to the monks chanting this millennium temple, or just simply enjoy the beautiful scenery with mountains and sea.
Quanzhou is the starting point of ancient maritime silk road. There are still many physical evidences testifying to its grandeur in history. We will discover the city from the historical sites including Quanzhou Maritime Museum – facts of the prosperous silk road, Kaiyuan Temple and Laojun Hill. In the late afternoon, transfer to Fuzhou and stay overnight there.
Fuzhou is a prosperous port and a garden-like city of Fujian Province. It is a nice stop on our way from Xiamen to Wuyishan. In the morning, we visit the architectural buildings at Sanfang Qixiang, and enjoy a hike up to the drum hill to take a panoramic view of Fuzhou. Transfer to Wuyishan in the late afternoon.
A day visit of Wuyishan. Climb the Tianyou peak in the morning gentle breeze. The afternoon will be a leisure drafting on the Jiuqu Brook. Stay back and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Rafting ride is around two hours and ends at Wuyigong. It is a perfect place to have leisure afternoon walk.
Optional evening activity: an outdoor performance of Impression Da Hong Pao directed by Zhang Yimou. It is a perfect combination of the natural mountain, water and tea culture.
Discover more of the mountain today before departing. For the energetics, we can take some walk at Dahongpao Scenic Area and Shuilian Cave, then pay a brief visit to Xiamei Ancient Town before departure.
