Detail Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Lhasa

Upon your arrival in Lhasa, our Tibet guide will welcome you at the airport/train station, then head to the hotel. Leisure for the rest of the day and acclimatize the high altitude in the hotel.

Day 2 Lhasa City, Potala Place and Barkhor Street

Today’s tour starts from the World Heritage site - Potala Palace, the former winter palace of Dalai Lama. This 13-story high building contains over 1,000 rooms, various statues, stupas, murals and artifacts. The complex symbolizes Tibetan Buddhism and plays the central role of traditional administration of Tibet.

 

Then continue to Jokhang Temple, a spiritual center for Buddhists in Tibet. Next to the temple is Bakhor Street, filled with pilgrims and street vendors, selling traditional Tibetan items such as prayer wheels and jewelry.


Day 3 Monasteries in Lhasa, Drepung and Sera

In the morning, we visit Drepung monastery which was one of the “three greet” Gelug monasteries of Tibet and was founded in 1416. Ganden palace was used as Dalai Lama’s palace in the Drepung before moving to the Potala palace.

 

Afternoon, Sera Monastery, another important Gelug monastery of Tibet founded in 1419. The highlight is the Monks debate at around 3 - 5 in the afternoon.

Day 4 Lhasa – Gyantse - Shigatse

After breakfast, we depart Lhasa and drive towards Everest Mountain via Gyangtse and Shigatse, two most-visited cities out of Lhasa. Heading southwest from Lhasa, this 270km very scenic highway passes the Yamdroktso, one of the three holy lakes; grassland with snow-capped mountains in the distance. We also drop visit of Pelkor Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum in Gyantse city, then continue one and half hour drive to arrive Shigatse. 

Day 5 Everest Base Camp

We spend almost 6 hours on the bus from Shigatse to Rongbuk Monastery via Lhatse where you can have lunch. Fortunately, the journey is also important as the destination with spectacular views all along the way. If weather is fine, you can catch up the Everest Mountain out of mist when passing by the 5050m Pang La Pass, one of the highest passes in Tibet.

Day 6: Everest Base Camp Return to Shigatse

If weather permits, enjoy sunrise view of Everest Peak at the lodging area. Later, visit the Rongbu Monastery - the unique highest monastery with nuns and monks living together. Visit the Everest Base Camp to take pictures of Mt. Everest and have a close contact with this mighty mountain. Start the journey Kyirong border and arrive in the late afternoon.

Day 7: Exit China through Kyilong Border (2600m), then drive to Kathmandu

In the morning, drive to the new tourist border – Kyilong, guide will assist you check in procedures. Then Nepalese driver will pick you up at the border and drive to Kathmandu city, end the services in Kathmandu city (NO Patan or Bhakatupur).

    e)  4 nights of Economy Hotel twin sharing accommodation with breakfast (B.B), 1 night Dorm or Big Tent with humble accommodation near Rongpuk Monastery, 1 night at Local Basic Hotel in Kyilong.

    g)  All admission fee of tourist sites listed in the itinerary.

    h)  Oxygen bottles/Oxygen tank cylinder provided during the tour days in Tibet.

Reminder

  1. Free pickup from airport available at 10am, 13:00pm, 17:00pm; free airport transfer from hotel available at 6:30am, 8:00am, 12:00pm. Extra cost at ($70 van per way) if you missed the free pick up due to flight delay.

  2. Railway station pickup and drop-off is free. Extra cost ($45 per car per way) is required if arriving or departing not on the scheduled tour dates.

  3. We will help to issue Tibet Permit from Travel Bureau Department. Documents needed for the application include passport copy, China visa copy and residential certificate for expats, and all should be handed in at least 15 working days prior to the date you board flight/train to Tibet.

  4. Train and flight ticket to Tibet are always in huge demand. We can do further to avoid your hassles. 

Change and Cancellation Policy

  1. 15 days before commencement of services: 100% refund.

  2. 7 to 14 days before commencement of services: charge 10% of the tour price.

  3. 2 to 6 days before commencement of services: charge 50% of the tour price.

  4. Within 2 days of commencement of services or no-show travelers: charge 100% of the tour price.

  5. After the trip has commenced, we are unable to refund any amount for unused services due to your willingness, early departure, late arrival, or missed days on tours.
