"To Be a One-day Shanghainese" - a perfect program for those who love to learn local life. With a visit of the community culture center, local family and their market, you will have chance to see what real China is at the Caoyang Neighborhood.
This tour is mainly for students, elderly people and who are interested in the custom and ordinary life of the city.
Through the program called "To Be a One-day Shanghainese", you will have chance to see what real China is at the Caoyang Neighborhood. The residential quarters were built for model workers in the 1950s and won the Tittle as workers' quarters. Now 60 percent of residents here are workers who lead a life of the medium level in the city and they are the most ordinary group. The program started in 1995 and all families involved in have members speak some English to communicate with foreigners.
The whole program includes a private transfer (with English-speaking guide) from your hotel to Caoyang neighborhood committee. Then followed visits to the community culture center, a free market and call on a local residence for a chat with the owners. Lunch will be at local family.
Optional visit (extra fee required) for you to choose:
1. Visit to Kindergarten or home care center.
2. Taichi/painting/calligraphy courses;
3. Paper cutting learning.
Afterwards, transfer back to hotel around 5:30pm.

5. The price is for an English-speaking guide. Additional costs may apply if a different language guide is needed (We offer French and Spanish-speaking guide as well).
15 days before commencement of services: 100% refund.
7 to 14 days before commencement of services: charge 10% of the tour price.
2 to 6 days before commencement of services: charge 50% of the tour price.
Within 2 days of commencement of services or no-show travelers: charge 100% of the tour price.
After the trip has commenced, we are unable to refund any amount for unused services due to your willingness, early departure, late arrival, or missed days on tours.
