At 7:30 am, our guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel and begin the journey north to Jiuzhaigou Valley. The northern part of Sichuan is a mountainous region, located on the edge of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. As we travel through this scenic area, you will enjoy views of gorges and lakes nestled among the high, majestic mountains. Along the way, we will make 3 or 4 stops for rest, meals, and a visit to a Tibetan village.
At 8:00 am (time may vary depending on the season), your driver and guide will meet you at the hotel. Spend the entire day exploring Jiuzhaigou National Park, with your entrance ticket covering the eco-bus within the park. Your guide will accompany you throughout the sightseeing.
The name "Jiuzhaigou" means "Valley of Nine Villages," which refers to the nine ancient Tibetan villages in the area. The park is a fairyland of snow-capped mountains, colorful lakes, lush forests, stunning waterfalls, and abundant wildlife. Covering 720 km², the park features three main valleys—Shuzheng, Rize, and Zecha—each offering unique and breathtaking views shaped by the changing altitude. With so much to see, it’s easy to spend a whole day immersed in the beauty of this magical place!
After breakfast at 8:00 am, we will depart for Huanglong National Park, located 145 km from Jiuzhaigou Valley. Though less well-known than Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong offers equally breathtaking scenery. The park is famous for its vibrant, multi-colored ponds that form natural terraces. We will take the cable car to the mountain’s upper reaches, where the most beautiful lakes are nestled. From there, we will walk along the wooden path, descending through the park to enjoy the hundreds of colorful lakes as we make our way back to the entrance.
After the visit, we will drive to Maoxian, where we will stay overnight to conclude the day's tour.
Tips: If Huanglong National Park is closed due to snowy weather. We will visit Munigou alternatively during this time.
After breakfast, we will begin the 2-hour drive to Dujiangyan. Your first stop will be at the Dujiangyan Panda Valley, a sanctuary that is home to numerous giant pandas and red pandas. Afterward, you can explore the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, a UNESCO World Heritage site, or visit Mount Qingcheng, known for its tranquil landscapes and Taoist temples.
In the afternoon, we will drive back to Chengdu, where the tour will conclude at your hotel.
Tip: It is recommended to stay overnight in Chengdu and depart for your next destination the following day.

Can elderly people visit Huanglong and Jiuzhaigou?
If elderly people do not have heart or blood pressure issues and can walk, even if their mobility is limited, they can still take this itinerary at a slower pace. It's important to have younger family members accompany them. However, if the person requires a wheelchair for the entire journey, we recommend choosing a more relaxed route in larger cities, as both national parks are vast and the facilities for disabled access are limited.
Can people who get motion sickness travel to Jiuzhaigou?
The drive from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou is over 400 km and involves many winding roads, which makes the journey long and potentially uncomfortable. Additionally, both Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong are located at relatively high altitudes, so mild altitude sickness may occur.
Can I take a train to Jiuzhaigou?
High-speed trains are available from Chengdu to the Jiuzhaigou area. The train ride from Chengdu East to Huanglong Jiuzhaigou/Songpan Station takes approximately 2 hours. However, if you have a lot of luggage, are traveling with a large group, or are traveling during peak Chinese holidays (when train tickets can be in high demand), we recommend taking a private car, as it will be more convenient.
