It is a perfect experience for those who love Chinese culture and cuisine by visiting the Palace Museum and enjoy a cooking class at top-rated restaurant – Black Sesame Kitchen in Beijing.


As usual, we suggest an early get up to visit the Imperial Palace (Forbidden City) for about two hours in the morning. The Forbidden City was home to 24 Emperors for almost 500 years from Qing Dynasty to Ming Dynasty. The complex is well preserved with 980 buildings over 720,000 m2. Great squares, halls, gates, gardens and courtyards form a 'city within a city'. Since 1925, this imperial palace had been turned into a museum exhibiting extensive collections of artifacts and artwork.


Regular cooking class begins at 11:00am. We move to the Black Sesame Kitchen and meet the chef to start preparations and cooking. Lunch will be at the kitchen for the creations you’ve made. Afterwards, move to the Forbidden City – one of the highlights of Chinese culture relics.


Black Sesame Kitchen is a well noted restaurant between Expat community in Beijing as well as travelers who would like to try cooking lesson of Chinese cuisine. It is a small place located in a residential courtyard just off the popular alley Nan Luogu Xiang, near Forbidden City.


Regular cooking class only available on Wednesday and Sundays from 11am-2pm limited to 20 participants, includes an in-depth, hands-on cooking lesson with three dishes and non-alcoholic beverages. A group up to 4 pax can make advanced reservation for private class with some extras. Sample dishes are as the following. You can try two or three dishes and chef will do the rest:  

    Pan-Fried Dumplings with Seasonal Filling 锅贴

    Three Mushroom Stir-Fry 炒三菇

    Beef with Hangzhou Peppers 杭椒牛柳

    Five-Flavored Eggplant 彩色茄子

    Red Braised Pork Belly 上海红烧肉

    Stir-Fry Kale 清炒菜心

    Kung Pao Shrimp 宫保大虾**

    Wild Rice Stem with Chinese Bacon 茭白腊肉

    Chongqing Spicy Chicken 重庆辣子鸡 **

    Home Made Black Sesame Ice Cream with Candied Seasonal Fruit 黑芝麻冰淇淋和拔丝水果

Transfer back to hotel around 5:30pm when tour ends.

1. No stop at any shopping center.

2. Private transfer including pick-up and drop-off at hotel or personal address which is supposed to be in the city.

3. Service time is around 8 hours. But the departure time can be a bit earlier or late on your request.

4. Brand of Van is the most popular kind in good condition. If for luxury brand like Bens, Audi, prices may vary accordingly. 

5. Tour itinerary can be customized to your needs.


Change and Cancellation Policy

  1. 15 days before commencement of services: 100% refund.

  2. 7 to 14 days before commencement of services: charge 10% of the tour price.

  3. 2 to 6 days before commencement of services: charge 50% of the tour price.

  4. Within 2 days of commencement of services or no-show travelers: charge 100% of the tour price.

  5. After the trip has commenced, we are unable to refund any amount for unused services due to your willingness, early departure, late arrival, or missed days on tours.
