Since the partial opening of the Shanghai Museum East on February 2nd, it has received widespread acclaim and become one of Shanghai's most popular cultural landmarks and having welcomed over 900,000 visitors to date.


Noteworthy exhibitions encompass:

F1:

Ancient Chinese Bronze Gallery:

The exhibition highlights 500+ meticulously chosen artifacts, presenting the evolution of ancient Chinese bronzeware. It stands as the foremost showcase of Chinese bronzeware globally, providing a comprehensive historical overview.

Ancient Chinese Sculpture Gallery:

The exhibition showcases 289 three-dimensional artifacts, such as bone carvings, jade sculptures, bronzeware, wooden and pottery figurines, tombstone carvings, and gold-copper sculptures. A third of these items are being publicly displayed for the first time, reflecting an expanded range of categories.

Interactive Experience: The Curio-city, Digital Gallery, Open Conservation Lab

The Curio-city, developed by the Shanghai Museum East, offers a unique blend of exploratory, immersive, and interactive experiences. This "exhibition-education" space is designed primarily for children and teenagers aged 6-18, as well as for family visits.

The Digital Gallery, as a new space in Shanghai Museum East, will debut with "Poetic Jiangnan." This exhibition integrates the latest research from the past twenty years on Chinese classical painting, highlighting the stylistic features of Jiangnan landscape paintings across different historical periods.

The Open Conservation Lab in the Shanghai Museum East reveals the secrets of artifact preservation through open restoration displays and themed exhibitions. In this space, national and Shanghai Intangible Cultural Heritage restoration teams demonstrate their work on bronzes, ceramics, paintings, calligraphy, furniture, lacquerware, and ancient books.

Shining Stars of China - Sanxingdui – Jinsha Ancient Shu Civilization Exhibition:

The exhibition displays 363 important ancient Shu artifacts, representing the largest, most prestigious, and most comprehensive collection of archaeological discoveries from the ancient Shu civilization found outside Sichuan Province to date.

1.       There’re sightseeing buses connecting Shanghai Museum East and Shanghai Museum on People’s Square from every Wednesday to Sunday. Daily departure time: 11:00/12:00/13:00/14:00/15:00.

2.       Vistors Enter from East Entrance of B1(near Dingxiang Road)散客请在B1东入口(近丁香路)处进入场馆.

3.       Guided service, AR Glass and Audio Guide are available in the Museum, please consult in the Service Desk on east side of F1.

4.       Baggage Depository (includes coat and hat and large luggage) can be easily found on the F1.

5.       Cultural and Creative Souvenirs with Shanghai Museum (on F1) and Sanxingdui styles

6.       (on F2&F3) are popular, especially the fridge magnets, golden mask, sunbirds, you should not miss.

7.       Free drinking water is available in the lounge area on F2. Coffee, desserts, and meals are possible on both F1&F2.
