It was the capital of several dynasties in Chinese history, and the most recently was from 1927 to 1949 under the administration of Kuomintang. The most visited are the City Wall of Nanjing, Confucius Temple, The Gate of China, Ruins of Ming Dynasty Imperial Palace, Presidential Palace, Dr. Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Qixia Temple and Chaotiangong. The city now serves as the capital of Jiangsu Province and the transport hub in the area. All Beijing-Shanghai trains stop at Nanjing and make it a perfect spot for first timer to China.
