Dongchuan, located 250 northeast of Kunming city, is famous for the stunning views of the red earth. These red lands extend some 50 km boasting the largest in the world. It is developed for centuries due to the high iron and other mineral content. As the plants growing, the terraces fields become colorful and change views in different seasons like a natural woven carpet. May to October is the best time to travel Dongchuan.
